Name Mark Lysycia
Age
51
Month / Year joined A&T May 2009
Years Running
7 at club level, first race Aug 2003,couldn't believe how fast people were running past me! 3 races later, I got the running "bug", then that's it!Once it gets you, you're hooked!
Favourite Race/s
Wesham 10k, also like the Gin Pit races, coz of the atmosphere and the pasties afterwards.
Favourite Distance
Anything up to half, only done the one Marathon and that distance still scares me!!
Toughest sporting achievement to date
Walked the National 3 peaks Sept 2007, Ben Nevis,Scarfel and Snowdon in 23.30 hours. Felt good idea at the time to run quite a bit down Ben Nevis and Scarfel...could hardly walk 5 days later.Had to walk upstairs sideways Much harder than my Marathon, where I was running again after 2 days. Took  lot longer after the walk.

Running / Sporting Ambitions / Goals

To do a sub 40 10k before I hang my running shoes up, and before the likes of Matt,Greg R,Mark B and Josie to name but a few, do it first, lol!

Do the three Peaks again. To stay injury free and continue enjoying my sports for many years to come.

Any other interests, sports, hobbies.
Keeping fit in general  and other sports I really enjoy are Skiing in Austria, Table Tennis, Squash, Cycling, Gym sessions, Eating, drinking, socialising, holidays and music. Races abroad with a bunch of like minded runners. BBQ's and love being outside when the weather is good. Love the weekends! Making the most out of life!
Most memorable event that you have experienced (in sport or in general)

Sport........Completing the Dublin Marathon on mainly  30-miles training  per week and not every week either, convinced it was the Guinness that got me round.

General........ Flew Concorde from New York to Heathrow 1987(OK, I know, a lot of you were not even born and most still youngsters!!)57,000 feet high, over 1400 MPH(Mach 2 to any plane spotters out there) and just over 3 hours travel time, included the best on board service I will EVER experience.

Sporting Icon No one person in particular but anyone older than me who are racing and still producing super times, showing that age has nothing to do with it. Our very own club runners  Shaun Moran and Arnold Melling are two fine examples. A friend of mine took up running at 58! he's 73  now and still doing half's and ten milers....Respect!!!!
Anything else you want to add Anyone reading this and you are not from this club or run for any club, you need to contact me so I can tell you what a great running club this is. Running is hard  enough which everyone knows but running with a great   club helps "ease" the thought of getting out of your chair and doing something active which will make you feel 100% better! So what are you waiting for!!! send me an e-mail if you want to know more, you can train with us for a few weeks to see if you like it, under no obligation whatsoever.  marklysycia@yahoo.co.uk
